Barnes & Noble and Microsoft on Monday reached a settlement agreement regarding their Google Android patent dispute.

Brought forth by union executives the settlement includes a new e-reading partnership known as Newco which will see Microsoft grab a 17.6 percent stake in a project that will feature work from Barnes & Noble’s Nook business and its college division.

SIR ELTON JOHN and his songwriting partner BERNIE TAUPIN have been left “surprised” and “disappointed” by a “baseless” lawsuit accusing the pair of stealing the lyrics to their hit song NIKITA.

Photojournalist/songwriter Guy Hobbs has filed a copyright infringement lawsuit in Illinois, claiming Sir Elton’s 1985 chart hit, which features lyrics penned by longterm collaborator Taupin, bears striking similarities to his own track Natasha, which he wrote three years prior.

Nutella, the only chocolate spread that has its own world celebration day, has lost a $3 million class action lawsuit filed by a California mother shocked to discover it wasn’t healthy.

Ferrero, makers of the chocolate and hazelnut spread, has agreed to pay $4 per jar to each consumer who applies for a refund under terms of the settlement. The refund only applies in the U.S., not Canada.

HOUSTON — The NFL has been sued by 28 former players in federal court in Houston, accused of covering a known link between concussions and permanent brain injuries.

The lawsuit was filed Tuesday on behalf of NFL Hall of Famers Randy White, Bob Lilly and Rayfield Wright. Other former Cowboys and NFL stars are also among the plaintiffs.

Rolando McClain faces a trial in May on assault charges stemming from an incident in Alabama last year, but he has been able to reach a settlement on another, older case.

The Birmingham News reports that McClain has reached a settlement in a case that saw him accused of hitting another man with a car and then verbally and physically assaulting him in 2008.
